Two Stages to Permanent Disconnection
Most owners believe paying the fine resolves the issue. It does not. Non-compliance triggers a two-stage enforcement process that ends in supply disconnection.

Stage 1 — Immediately upon detection
Administrative offence
Fine €250 to €3,500 for individuals  ·  Fine €450 to €40,000 for companies

↑  3-month grace period

Stage 2 — After grace period expires
Permanent gas supply disconnection
Supply disconnected by the distributor. Not reversed by paying the fine.
Restoration requires: new inspection + compliant Boletim de Inspeção + formal written request to the gas distributor.

The real cost goes beyond the fine: technical repairs + new inspection + supply restoration charges.
